The Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa mountain range in Guantánamo, identified by the Toa Blades Biosphere Reserve, is characterized by its magnificent landscapes. Mark the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, declared a World Heritage Site at the XXV Meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Helsinki, Finland, on December 13, 2001. This park constitutes the most important protected area in Cuba in respect to biodiversity, while possessing the greatest wealth and endemism in the country and worldwide, also has the largest remaining mountain ecosystems that are conserved in Cuba, of exceptional beauty. It is an area of priority at national and international level through the conservation of its ecosystems and biodiversity.
Guantánamo also has the natural path Los Monitongos de Hatibonico, El Yunque de Baracoa, El Abra de Mariana, the surroundings of La Farola Viaduct, the Terrazas de Maisí, the Pán Galán Reserves (974 m), Pico Buenavista (1193 m) and Loma del Gato (1184 m), an example of the predominance of heights in the region.
