Third town founded in 1514 by the Spaniards as Villa de la Santísima Trinidad. Known as the city-museum of the Caribbean and one of the best conserved in the Americas, it was declared, alongside the famous Valle de los Ingenios, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.

This colonial jewel offers the sensation of having stopped in time due to the conservation of its historical environment, buildings, original, cobblestone streets, Creole tiles, grilles and windows.

In this ideal tourist destination, which spans 1,467 km², visitors can also learn about the mix of cultures of its settlers and the deep roots of its handcrafted tradition transmitted from generation to generation; enjoy the natural wealth of the Escambray mountains, the beaches in the Ancón peninsula and the natural and archaeological reserve conserved in the Valle de los Ingenios.
