Nature of Havana
Although its area is mostly urban, nature in Havana, Cuba is abundant with an extensive green ring of the city that forms the Great Metropolitan Park, which covers areas of 4 municipalities. The National Zoo Park, Lenin Park, Expocuba and the National Botanical Garden, are also part of the forestry cordoning of the city.
Havana has areas of an impressive natural beauty, such as the riverside of the upper reaches of the Cojimar River, the Laguna de Itabo, Rincon de Guanabo and the Coca area. Several peripheral municipalities are characterized by their greenery: Eastern Havana, Guanabacoa, Cotorro, San Miguel del Padron, Arroyo Naranjo, Boyeros, Revolution Square, La Lisa, Marianao and Playa. That characteristic has made Havana a "Garden City".
