In the Province of Villa Clara, La Caridad Theater, almost since its foundation, has been the center of this activity in the whole region. Declared a National Monument since 1982, this majestic construction has withstood the passage of time with dignity and continues to be preferred by the public for its beautiful architecture and history. It is included in the trilogy of neoclassical theaters built in the second half of the 19th century in Cuba and still preserved today. Built thanks to the donation of Doña Marta Abreu, patriot and benefactor of the locality, the coliseum was inaugurated on September 8, 1885 with the purpose of helping the city council in the expenses of charity and public instruction, in addition to distributing gifts among the poor.
The Guiñol Theater of Remedios, aimed at children, is one of the oldest theaters in Villa Clara and Cuba, and, like the Rabindranath Tagore Guiñol Theater Group, has decades of experience making villaclareños and visitors laugh, cry and dream. The Escambray Theater Group, school of several of the most important artists of the stage and cinema in Cuba, was founded in this province to bring theater to the most difficult to reach areas of the territory.
