publié 2019-04-01 par Norlan Echevarria

Beaches are one of the coziest natural wealth of the tourist destination Jardines del Rey, located in the Northern coast of the Cuba’s central region. About 40 kilometers of beaches of warm and crystalline water surround the cays: Cayo Coco, Guillermo, Antón Chico and Paredón Grande, main islets of Ciego de Avila’s tourist Northern region. One of the reasons hundreds of tourists arrive in this region every year, for the enjoyment of its excellent resorts of fine sands and coral reef with soft underwater current and slopes.

Del Medio and Pilar beaches are located in Cayo Guillermo. Playa Pilar stands out among them, that features by its turquoise-blue-clear waters of different shades and the inequal surrounding nature.

Playa Pilar contrasts with the rest of the Caribbean seashores because of its seabed, surrounded by coral formations of extreme beauty where fish schools are common, due to the proximity of the second largest barrier reef on the continent. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, it impresses by its low and calm tides, the cleanliness of the sea and its white and fine sand; attributes that invite the visitor to enjoy peacefully a sea bath and expose themselves to the tropical sun.

Playa Pilar, it is a constant reminder of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Ernest Hemingway, because it was the name of the yacht he used to go around the island of Cuba in search of German submarines, during the Second World War.
