Cienfuegos, Cuba.- (PL) The 12th edition of the international tourism meeting Nature TURNAT 2019 held from September 24 to 29 in the country’s South Center, showed that Cuba is not alone, despite the strengthen of the blockade imposed by the Trump administration . This was stated by the Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero Cruz, at the end of the event at the Hotel Meliá Jagua, in Cienfuegos, together with the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Félix Duartes Ortega, first secretary in the province and 150 professionals from 13 countries.
New experiences and products will show in the TURNAT 2021 to be developed in the western region. Marrero said that the temporary energy situation that the country is going through, due to the actions of the United States Government, which bans the arrival of ships with fuel, does not limit the operation of tourism, nor international meetings. Cuba is considered among the ten biological destinations of greatest biodiversity in the world, with 211 protected areas conducive to nature and adventure tourism modalities.
He said they have an environmental strategy to deal with climate change and advance energy savings with the use of solar heaters, LED lamps, waste treatment plants and desalination plants. Participants had the opportunity to share natural enclaves of the Ciénaga de Zapata, Cienfuegos with destinations for diving and mountain tourism and Trinidad, gate of Topes de Collantes National Park.
The Minister of Tourism said that "in this world, characterized by threats of war and terrorism, we are proud that Cuba is one of the safest countries, recognized by visitors with their own experiences." He affirmed that the hostile and genocidal blockade "will make us increasingly strong, free and independent and we will continue to develop tourism, with the aim of raising the prosperity of the people."
