Varadero beach, leading beach and sun resort in Cuba, opened its doors to international tourism since mid-October, with a group of hygienic-sanitary measures and anti-covid-19 protocols of unrestricted compliance.

When announcing the details of this reopening - a similar decision had been made since July but for the northern and southern cays of the archipelago - Ivis Fernandez, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the Cuban western province of Matanzas, pointed out that one of the most beautiful beaches in the world resumed its activities in a gradual and orderly manner. For the start, 12 hotels were enlisted.

Fernandez affirmed that the priorities include the protection of workers and visitors, which is something essential for us, the most important thing, she stressed after highlighting the effort to train all the personnel who work in the more diverse tourist areas; and she also praised the maintenance actions to improve the state of the facilities and the quality of services.

She clarified that strict compliance with the hygienic-sanitary protocols applied with a high level of security prevented the spread of the pandemic during summer months, in which the resort operated with national tourism, a stage that she described as successful.

Located just 140 kilometers east of Havana, this sun-beach destination on the Caribbean island has more than 50 hotel facilities and a capacity of more than 21,952 rooms; it has about 1,800 hectares of beach, with a extension of 20 kilometers and a strip of sand of 22 meters.
