Granma´s Architecture, Cuba
In Granma´s architecture predominate buildings from
the first half of the XX century and although many have already been replaced
by other constructions, several buildings in the city have the status of a
national monument. The architectural style that prevails in the main cities of
Granma is eclectic, although you can find buildings in Colonial, Art Nouveau
and Art Deco styles. The church of San Salvador de Bayamo, for example,
originally built in 1613 and the chapel of Dolores (1740), next to the
birthplace of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, constitutes an important sample of
what is left of colonial architecture. On the other hand, in Manzanillo you can
find worthy exponents of Mozarabic and Mudejar architecture.
