The José Martí International Airport in Havana is preparing to start operations in the coming days, as announced by the Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero. During a meeting with tour operators from Germany, the head of Government specified that with the resumption of activities in this air terminal, the only one that remains closed in the country, a message of great confidence about security on the island would be transmitted to the world . Since last October 15, all the international airports of the Caribbean nation receive commercial flights, while humanitarian and cargo flights are carried out from the capital.

The Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez, ratified in a television appearance that the facilities guarantee compliance with all hygienic-sanitary measures to avoid contagion with Covid-19.

Likewise, all people who arrive in the country receive a free diagnostic test for the disease (PCR), which provides security for the traveler. Cuba established a protocol for sanitary control in aeronautical activity based on the indications of the Government and the Ministry of Public Health, which included the recommendations of the working group of the International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Health Organization. Airlines such as Condor, Air Transat and Air Canada have already resumed their flights to the largest of the Antilles, while others such as the Spanish Iberia and Evelop, as well as the French Air France, announced that they will soon return to this destination.
