Tourists on the Northern Cays of Cuba Were Protected From Eta

Tourists lodged in hotels of the leisure destination Jardines del Rey, on the northern coast of Ciego de Ávila province, are well protected from the approach of the tropical storm Eta.

According to Iyolexis Correa, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in Ciego de Ávila, there were taken all measures to protect facilities, workers and visitors in case of coastal flooding take place due to heavy rain and strong winds.

She also added that Russian and Canadian tourists in this resort are well-kept in their hotels. There were only transferred a group of them from Cayo Guillermo to other safer hotels in Cayo Coco. Correa expressed that other actions have been taken on the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila such as cleaning of sewers and rooves so as to avoid rainwater accumulation.

She pointed out that crafts from Marina Marlin and Gaviota were taken to safe places and all material resources were safeguarded to avoid economical losses. She also underlined that the causeway entrance was shut up in the early hours of the evening, route on the sea which is the only way of access to Jardines del Rey destination.
