A getaway for your holidays
Jardines del Rey (Gardens of the King) are a chain of islands off the north coast of Cuba. They include Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Romano and Cayo Paredón Grande which are linked to the mainland by a 17 km long artificial causeway, with a road running along it.
Governor Diego Velázquez named this archipelago Jardines del Rey (Gardens of the King) in honor of Ferdinand the Catholic, of Spain, in 1514.
Miles of fine white sand and gorgeous, clear green waters, including the spectacular Playa Pilar, offer picture perfect sunning spots. Fantastic snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities beckon from more than six miles of coral reefs. Flamingos and many other birds live in its lagoons, forest and jungle.
Playa Pilar (Pilar Beach) is located at the western end of Cayo Guillermo. This beach is named after Erneste Hemingway's yacht, the cabin cruiser PIlar. The island provides the setting for the climax of Hemingway's last novel Island in the Stream.
Hope to see you soon!
